Children & Youth

One of the fundamental features of NZ Sculpture OnShore is our commitment to engaging young people with art.

To this end we have developed two distinct elements of the exhibition specifically for children and young people. These are:

Children's Sculpture Exhibition: an exhibition of artwork by children from fifteen schools and art groups around Auckland is displayed inside the historic Fort Takapuna.

We are delighted to announce our 2018 exhibiting schools:

Belmont Primary School, Birkenhead College, Campbells Bay Primary, Devonport School, Glendowie Primary School, Kelston Boys, Kristin School, Milford School, Monte Cecilia Catholic School, Remuera Intermediate, Saint Kentigern School, Waitakere College, Westlake Boys High School, Westlake Girls High School and Vauxhall Primary.

Schools programme: an opportunity for out-of-classroom learning for children aged 8-14 focused on a visit to the exhibition. Alongside this opportunity to experience major works of outdoor art, each group is provided with a professionally designed education pack to make the most of the visit back in the classroom. This year artist and teacher Elizabeth Mertens has begun work creating new materials for the pack and designing the popular Adventure Trail.

We would like to thank Auckland Council Creative Communities, Foundation North and Pub Charity Limited, for supporting the Education Programme.
