Completed BFA at Elam School of Fine Arts, Auckland University 1981
Frances Hodgkins Fellow, University of Otago, Dunedin, 1995
Tylee Cottage Artist in Residence, Sargeant Art Gallery Wanganui 2000
Working as a fulltime sculptor since 1985
Thomson regularly exhibits throughout New Zealand and Australia and also in Germany and France.
Has his work in Public Art Gallery and private collections around the world.

One of his more well known sculptures is the corrugated iron clad HQ Holden Station Wagon in the collection of Te Papa Tongarewa, the Museum of New Zealand , Wellington

He also has a number of sculptures at the Alan Gibbs Farm on the Kaipara Harbour.

Jeff Thomson works and lives in Helensville.
