Jonathan Organ & Jessica Pearless

Jonathan Organ (1973) and Jessica Pearless (1980) are based in Auckland, New Zealand. Both artists have a longstanding reputation in the visual arts community in New Zealand, as practitioners and visual art professionals. Jessica and Jonathan have been working collaboratively for over ten years through painting, installation and sculpture. Their work reflects an elegant, refined aesthetic whilst communicating ideologies about contemporary culture, society and the environment. Interests include abstraction, specifically geometric abstraction, modernist architecture and design. Selected recent sculptural collaborations are headland Sculpture on the Gulf, Waiheke Island, Auckland, 2013; Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi 2013, Australia; NZ Sculpture on Shore, Auckland, 2014; Sculpture in the Gardens, Auckland, 2015 - 2016.
Jonathan holds a Master of Fine Arts (First Class Honours) from Elam School of Fine Arts, University of Auckland (2002). Organ has exhibited throughout New Zealand and Internationally.
His work is collected worldwide. Jonathan’s recent works in painting and sculpture investigate the perception of surface, specifically analysing optical properties, physical characteristics and perceptions of quality in a controlled body of painted surfaces.
Jessica holds a Master of Fine Arts (Honours)from Elam School of Fine Arts, University of Auckland (2011). Jessica’s practice is an exploration of geometric abstraction and the non-objective through Painting and Installation. Colour, form and balance are integral components of her work, in which the influences range from Colin McCahon’s cubist works of the mid to late 1950s to early approaches to abstract art in Europe. Her award winning work is collected throughout New Zealand and Internationally.
