2008 EXHIBITION and PHOTO GALLERY
Visitors and artists alike commented on the fresh diversity of art works arranged across the beautiful cliff-top site. With 116 sculptures and 96 participating artists, the 7-16 November 2008 exhibition provided a thorough snap-shot of the range of approaches taken by contemporary artists: from emphemeral site-specific installations to carved marble and cast bronze; from highly abstract forms to a lifesize farmer and his prize pig; and from enthralling kinetic works to a giant replica of a crashed toy airplane. We were particularly thrilled by the way many exhibiting artists - whether emerging or senior - undertook ambitious new works that stretched their capabilities and creativity.

People's Choice Winner
Grey Lynn sculptor Grant Williams’ stunning three bladed kinetic sculpture Evolution, its leaf shape “blades” reflecting in a pool, was the clear winner again of the People’s Choice Awards.
Informative Tours
Complimentary exhibition tours, made available by North Shore City, were conducted by curators or knowledgeable guides.
Sandra Cammel created delightful handouts for children and their parents to enhance their visit to the exhibition. Sandra also conducted tours ("Art Discovery Trail") specifically for children to increase their appreciation and enjoyment of contemporary New Zealand art.
Premium Sculpture Gallery
Indoor sculptures were also available for sale (cash and carry) in the newly-restored historic Officers Mess. Devonport Rotarians are to be thanked for their enormous contributions to restore the Officers Mess to its former glory.
Childrens Sculpture @ The Fort
School-age children from the North Shore took over the underground Fort for a clever and inspirational exhibition. Participating schools were AppleTree Education Centre, Explorer School, Bayswater Primary School, Belmont Intermediate School, Belmont Primary School, Devonport Children's Art House, Devonport Primary School, Lake House Arts Centre, St. Leo's School, Stanley Bay School, Vauxhall School
