Terice Pomare
What inspires your art practice?
Nature and the environment I live in inspires me, along with many fond memories and stories from my childhood. I love experimenting with new ideas and pushing through the perceived limits.
What materials do you work in?
I mainly work with wood and resin, though I have experimented with stone too.
Describe your artwork for NZ Sculpture OnShore 2021
My main inspiration for this series of sculptures is my own concept of the creation of Rangitoto throughout the ages. Rangitoto started underwater with the water elemental, then the fire elemental erupted to the surface and finally the nature elemental clothed Rangitoto in flora and fauna. I have represented these in the 3 pillars: Elemental Pillar 1 - Water, Elemental Pillar 2 - Fire, Elemental Pillar 3 - Forest.
Where are the public most likely to see your artworks outside of NZSOS?
Whangarei Sculpture Symposium, Whangarei; Sculpture Northland, Whangarei Quarry Gardens, Whangarei.
