What inspires your art practice?
An instinctual love of weathered materials and satire. The aesthetic of materials that have been reduced to their essence. Exploring spatial elements and their relation to one another. Themes of love and loss. Found objects - those with a history of our heritage. Shadow, light, and social commentary. Relational objects to land
What materials do you work in?
Found materials and weathered materials, 44-gallon drums, fatigued objects, skeletal structures, wire, paper, ink, paint and photographs.
Describe your artwork for NZ Sculpture OnShore 2021
A love for used, eroded and abandoned 44-gallon drums which hold an unspoken history. Using this material as a canvas for my poems allows these drums to serve a purpose once more and continue their journey in this world, much like the writing that is placed upon them.
Where are the public most likely to see your artworks outside of NZSOS?
Te Shed gallery and studio, Helensville
