What inspires your art practice?
I am inspired by the everyday, the common and the often overlooked. I like to use
my imagination, manipulating common materials in ways that take them a long way from their original use. I am also interested in applying craft processes to industrial materials and seeing where it takes me.
What materials do you work in?
Steel and aluminium mesh, corrugated iron, wire, paper, hay and found objects.
Describe your artwork for NZ Sculpture OnShore 2021
This series of work came about through my love of models which I create for both private and public sculpture proposals. My father Tiger spent 30 years building model boats, his commitment, patience and skill has always been a huge inspiration for me as a sculptor.
Where are the public most likely to see your artworks outside of NZSOS?
Te Papa Tongarewa, Wellington; Bowen Galleries, Wellington; Gibbs Farm, Kaipara Coast, Makarau; Brick Bay Sculpture Park, Brick Bay.
Where did you study?
Elam School of Fine Arts, University of Auckland
