Collection: Geoff Rankin

Geoff Rankin was born in Scotland and educated in South Africa. He was always interested in art and moved to Australia in the early '60s where he enrolled in the National Art School, Sydney. It was there that he found the third dimension.   

Next he studied at the South Australian School of Art and exhibited at the Mildura and Transfield Sculpture Prize Competitions. During this time Geoff also worked as a set designer. Arriving in New Zealand in the '70s Geoff started exploring obsidian (natural volcanic glass) and lapidary worked glass as these materials suited his designs.  

Geoff is looking for pure form and has exhibited in multiple galleries, his works feature in collections in New Zealand, Europe and America.
