Collection: Susan Mabin

Susan Mabin's sculptural works utilise diverse materials in combination with ceramic figurative elements, which act as metaphors for the physical and mental spaces of current human existence in our world, whilst accessing traditional representations of the 'heroic' figure on a plinth.

Susan has a Masters Degree in Art from EIT in Hawke's Bay and has enjoyed exhibiting in multiple solo and group exhibitions in New Zealand. Susan considers herself to be a multidisciplinary artist and enjoys working with other mediums, including photography, and with found objects to create work about the time and place where the materials are found.

Susan recently lost her studio and kiln at Waiohiki Arts Village in Hawkes Bay during the floods in Cyclone Gabrielle but has been able to create Unmonumental Continuations from a temporary space in a friend's garage!
